Now choose the text you want read out loud. You can either select regular text and have it formatted for being read out loud one word at a time or one sentence at a time, or you can choose a file that has already been formatted. In the former case the text will be formatted with the title "Text". In the latter case the title will be whatever it is. You will need to change the title to "Text", because all files to be read out loud need to have the title "Text" when they are actually read out loud. This is easy to do. Right after you have opened a file to be read out loud, just pull down the Apple menu to "a2 PR" and then choose "a3 Retitle Document alias".

This way you know instantly that the document has been Proportionalized and additionally formatted for reading out loud in a specific way. You may wish to save a formatted section of text with a full title before closing the window. This way you or others can open it up again instantly.

To format a section of regular text, select the text and copy it to the clipboard. Then pull down the Apple menu to "a1 WordPerfect alias" and press Command+F8 to have the text formatted for reading out loud one sentence at a time. Alternatively, press Command+F9 to have the text formatted for reading out loud one word at a time. In either case a window will open up partway through the formatting process. When it does, choose the letter "a" by typing a or clicking the cursor on the letter "a" in the window.

When the text is through being formatted you will see a little box in the lower right corner of the screen. This is the text file.

Now choose the control panel for how you wish to read. Go to the Apple menu and choose a2 PR and pull down "a4 Read Text w Human Voice alias" if this is what you wish to do. Pull down "a6 Read by Sen by W/Hum alias" if you wish to have sentences read out loud with real human voice, one highlighted word at a time, as they are displayed one sentence at a time. Pull down "a7 Read by Sen by W/Syn alias" if you wish to have sentences read out loud with synthesized voice, one highlighted word at a time, as they are displayed one sentence at a time.
