10 Ways to Immediately Improve Your Reading

(The 10 Tools of Proportional Reading)

  1. Read text silently up to 700 words per minute (wpm) without eye movement. Choose from 14 speeds (60-700 wpm). Stop, pause and repeat text as you read. Regardless of speed, feel like you are being read aloud to.
  2. Hear text read out loud in real human voice (digitized) at normal speaking speed and see the text displayed on the screen one word at a time as it is spoken. Take notes on the same screen at the same time. Stop, pause and restart this "Lecture" anytime and anywhere you want. Also, do the same thing but just use built in synthesizer.
  3. Read text silently with all words longer than a chosen number of letters (0-8) read out loud in real human voice. Also, do the same thing but just use built in synthesizer. Beginning readers can hear all words read out loud. As they progress they can have just the longer words read out loud. In this approach you really feel the rhythm of reading. At level 5 and 6, this approach sounds out key words.
  4. Simply click on individual words as you read to hear them pronounced out loud.
  5. See text presented on the screen one sentence at a time and hear it read out loud with synthesized voice at 150-200 wpm.
  6. Select section of text and hear it read out loud with synthesized voice and without display and without transferring text to other programs. This tool is good for just listening or for pacing silent reading.
  7. Automatically look up definition (on any electronic dictionary) and hear pronunciation of an individual word as you read; no retyping required. Real human voice pronunciation of over 120,000 words; other words synthesized.
  8. Automatically create a five level heirarchial outline of text. All titles, major headings and sub-headings are presented in a vertical mind-map; no retyping required.
  9. Pause the silent reading any time you wish and type a note, or speak out into a voice activated tape recorder, then press a button and resume reading where you left off. Also, mark sentences you like as you read and have them automatically typed out (with page numbers) as your notes or footnotes, no retyping or handwriting required.
  10. Create an interactive tutorial out of any text as you read without any retyping. On playback text will pause at break points. Create tutorials for silent reading or for text displayed as it is read out loud.
